More of "Later Today."
by Flofan Cindy Dingwall
What fun to attend a taping of "Later Today!" On May 24, 2000 Kristin Johanson and I attended a taping of "Later Today." Florence knew we were coming, so we were invited to sit in the Green Room prior to the taping. Both Asha and Florence came into say hello before the show aired. Added fun included watching Jodi, Asha and Florence tape promos for Friday's show, and then seeing the promos air on TV in our hotel room. We also saw Jodi tape an interview with actress Christine Lahti that was shown a couple of weeks later.(Click on any photo for a larger view)

Cindy & Kristin

The news portion dealt with the issue of asbestos in crayons. Florence hosted a segment on men's shaving. Jodi did the segment on eyewear. All three women assisted with the cooking segment.

It was great fun to come home and watch the tape of the show...and yes, I did see myself in the audience.

Flo & Cindy

I had an extra specialr eason for attending. I dedicated my newest book Bible Banquets with Kids (Abingdon, 2000) to Florence as a way of thanking her for all of the inspiration she has given me over the years. Talk about surprised! She was very surprised and pleased!

At the conclusion of Wednesday's taping, Jodi announced they would be taping Friday's show outdoors. I wandered over to Rockefeller Plaza early Friday morning, and sure enough the tech crew was setting up for their taping. The studio audience was seated down on the terrace. Florence and I had time for a quick, "Hello, how are you? Have a great day!" greeting before the show began.

Gardening

I was able to watch the opening segment, the sunscreen segment and Florence's gardening segment which were taping at various locations above the terrace. It meant moving around quite a bit, but it sure was fun. As usual, Florence did a great job.

If you plan to be in NYC try to see "Later Today." You'll have fun! Florence is always happy to greet fans! Let NBC know what a great show we Flofans think this is, so they keep it on the air!
